The article reads about the basic tendencies in research and analysis of the events of the Great Patriotic War (part of World War II, fought by the Soviet Union) carried out by the historians of the modern Ukraine. The given work looks at the contradictions in research content, which have a distinctive feature – the government policy impact under the circumstances of the national statehood establishment and new ideological values formation.
